Building with Sticks!

If you haven't been to the Corporate Office lately, you perhaps haven't seen the progress Mike Kalasmiki (Construction Superintendent) is making nearby on our One One Six project, located at 116th Street and College Avenue. It has been a unique project so far, due to the fact that the framing walls are being "stick built." In order to start sooner, we made the decision not to use pre-manufactured panels, so the walls have actually been being built on-site! This has also resulted in a bit of a cost savings as it is less expensive to ship a trailer full of building material than it is carriers loaded with pre-built panels, which are, if you think about it, shipping a lot of air! Stick framing is kind of a rarity these days, but it is working well, not only at One One Six, but also at our other current project, The Fort, located in Lawrence, on Indianapolis's north east side. Pictures from The Fort will be coming soon!

New Associates

J.C. Hart is pleased to announce a couple of new Associates, one who just started and one who has been around for a little awhile as a contractor, but just assumed Full-Time status. Steve Nestor has been working in the Corporate Office as a contractor for the Construction Division, the Contract Bid Administrator for our Saxony project, but he officially became a Full-Time Associate on Monday, January 4th. Steve comes to us with 14 years of apartment construction experience, and 10 years of custom home design and building before that! He has attended a few company functions so you may have had the opportunity to meet him already. We are very happy Steve is officially a member of the team and look forward to his future contributions to the Construction Division.

In the Property Management Division, Marna Shopoff started this week as a Part-Time Leasing Specialist at The Waverley. Marna has a long list of credentials in Property Management, including earning her CAM in 2007 and being a nominee for the IAA Grace McFadden Award in 2008 while with NTS Development Company. Marna desired to work part-time to allow herself the opportunity to go back to school full-time at the Herron School of Art. We welcome Marna, with her expertise and enthusiasm, and wish her the best of success in all her endeavors! And it is Marna's birthday, by the way, on Wednesday, so Happy Birthday, too, Marna!

What's Happening!

Want to know what's going on at our construction sites? A lot! Take a look at some recent shots from Legacy. The first picture is the clubhouse, followed by a couple interior shots of the gymnasium and the fitness center. (Gotta love all those windows!) The last pic is one of the 32 apartment buildings that is coming along beautifully.

These two pics are from Stonebridge, Phase II. These buildings are directly across the clubhouse, between the clubhouse and the cottages. Aren't they looking good?? Our Construction Division is rocking!

Lots Going On

We are pleased to announce that Christopher Clark, Assistant Manager, has joined the team at The Waverley. He transfered there in August and is very excited to be working with Vicki Russell-Webber to get The Waverley into the 90's! Congratulations, Chris! We know great things are ahead!

City Flats at Renwick in Bloomington is getting very close to opening their clubhouse and fitness room. Soon the construction trailer will be gone. And speaking of trailers, Legacy Towns & Flats is moving right along and a Leasing Trailer will be placed there in the next couple of weeks. Be sure to let Dennis Funkhouser know if you are interested in any of the positions at Legacy. The closing date for expressing an interest in those postings is September 15th.
